| Wald Diversified
produces automotive harmonic dampers for U.S. automobiles for a client.
These dampers are a significant step up in quality from what this
company's competitors offer. The dampers are cast of nodular iron
and also investment cast steel. The outer ring and the hub are assembled
with an elastomer (rubber) ring between them. The elastomer is bonded
(vulcanized) to the metal. These products are then very accurately
balanced. The finished product is master packed in boxes (see photo
at right) and shipped direct to the company's warehouse in the U.S.
ready for sale. |
The dampers
are packaged in this heavy-duty corrugated box which has a four color
printed and UVC coated label laminated to the box. The damper sits
inside the box on a foam insert, which is molded specifically to fit
the product and the box. Each box is labeled with the appropriate
UPC code and then master packed in cartons of four units. The master
cartons are also UPC coded. Wald's client receives the products ready
to ship out to their warehouse distributors. |
| The dampers are manufactured to
relatively tight tolerances for a product of this type. Both axial and radial runout are
held to less than .005" and the unit is balanced to within 2 grams. The center bore
is a press fit on the engine crankshaft and is a critical dimension to assure ease of
assembly. |
These dampers have been
successfully spin tested to 12,500 rpm which is significantly faster than what they will
experience in actual use. Wald Diversified conducted all of the spin testing,
metallurgical testing, and measurement checking on the products at various independent
labs on behalf of the client. |
